The Journey Begins

Welcome to my keto/mom blog where I’ll be sharing new recipe conversions of keto friendly foods and drinks, mom life content, as well as some lifestyle posts to help you get to know me better. I’m so glad you’re here and I can’t wait to share all that I’ve learned on my keto journey from the last year and a half!

A little bit about me and how I found keto: When I had my first daughter I ballooned from a lean 120 lbs to 180lbs (I’m 5’2″)! About 1 year postpartum, my sister introduced me to the Atkins diet. I  found great success in it, losing around 15 lbs my first month but I felt awful. I was eating a lot of Atkins brand shakes, candy bars, and meals which are packed with processed junk and glucose spiking sugar alcohols. I knew something wasn’t right but I kept going because I was seeing results. About 3 months in I was blessed with my second pregnancy. I tried staying on Atkins but I was uncomfortable eating and drinking all that stuff anymore! Plus, my body wanted all the carbs. I probably had a bagel with cream cheese every morning during my 2nd pregnancy.

As you would expect I gained all the weight that I had lost in that quick stunt on Atkins within a few weeks. This time my weight rose all they way up to 185 lbs!!

After delivering my 2nd daughter I was quick to jump back on the low-carb train within 6 weeks or so, but this time I ditched all the Atkins crap and focused on eating whole foods.  My friend Krystal convinced me to research the ketogenic diet and I realized it was more along the lines of what my body was asking for.

When I became a stay at home mom, I had more time to experiment in the kitchen and modify some of my favorite foods so they would fit into my new lifestyle. I fell in love with being in the kitchen.  I was all in, cooking 95% of our meals at home and enjoying every minute of it.

One day, I was invited to join a Red Tent circle hosted by my big sister Luz Warrior, a certified panic healer . A red tent, for those who are not familiar, is a gathering of women who are seeking healing, want to remove energy blocks and manifest their dreams. It was an incredible day with lots of crying, laughing and soul searching. I had many conversations with myself that day; I did lots of self examination. I was encouraged to write down my wildest dreams and one of them was to begin a keto lifestyle blog, SO HERE I AM! Living my wildest dream. Thanks so much for accompanying me!

  1. This is so awesome and inspiring! I got onto the keto diet not too long ago and I love it so far. It’s a bit challenging being Vietnamese and on this diet because in my culture everything I love has carbs… vermicelli, pho, spring rolls, etc but I’ve been searching and finding alternatives to make it work. It’s been a fun challenge so far and I don’t plan on stopping.
