As someone that was addicted to sugar most of their life, I can say I’ve done a lot of damage to my teeth. With keto as a way of eating for me now, I can worry less about tooth decay from sugar and carbs but I still have a lot of discoloration from my coffee addiction. I drink about 2-3 cups of coffee a day.

As a stay at home mom I’m literally working from the moment I open my eyes to the moment I close them. I need all the help I can get and coffee really gives me that. Needless to say, I’m always looking for solutions to help keep my teeth from turning yellow!

When the team over at Shyn sent me their products in exchange for a review I was thrilled!

Every day when I wake up with my babies we brush our teeth together. I have to set a good example for them and teach them proper oral care now, creating good habits for the future.

We have a little hourglass that stays in our bathroom and we make it a point to brush our teeth for a full 2 minutes, trying to spend 30 seconds on each quadrant. We turn it into a game and try to make it as fun as possible. Sometimes when we’re done I joke around that I need sunglasses because their smiles are too bright! They think it’s hilarious and all day long they’ll flash me their big smiles to try and “blind me”.

Emi Teeth Brushing
My daughter Emi, learning the importance of oral care.

I’ve used battery operated electric toothbrushes before. Sure, they’re better than manual toothbrushes but I never knew there was a difference between a rechargeable electric toothbrush and a battery operated one! With my battery operated toothbrush the power would decrease little by little as time went. Now looking back, when the battery was on its very last leg,  I would supplement using my own manual strength and I would brush harder and harder probably doing significant damage to my gums and teeth. Yikes!

While some may think that brushing hard is more effective at removing plaque and food, that’s actually false! According to, “Brushing too hard can dig tiny divots into your teeth. These divots then can hang on to leftover food particles and encourage tooth decay.”

Who wants to be stuck with an over-priced handheld toothbrush when the battery runs out? Not me!

Shyn offers a subscription service that comes with their Daily Sonic Toothbrush. I’m a subscription service fanatic, so this is perfect for me. I currently have a keto snack subscription box, a razor subscription box, a beauty product subscription box… and lately I’ve even been looking into a candle subscription box! So why not an oral care subscription box? To me, that sounds like a no brainer!

They have different collections that you can choose from depending on your needs. YOU decide what’s right for your oral care routine. I loved that idea!

You can select refills every 2 months, 3 months, or a one time purchase.  Your order is delivered with free shipping when you subscribe to a collection. Paying for shipping really isn’t my thing, so the 3 month subscription seems like the most ideal, to me. Best of all you can pause or cancel anytime.

The collection that I received was the “Shyn Bright Collection”.  The box came jam packed with the Shyn Daily Sonic Toothbrush, the charging station, an anti-plaque brush head, the Shyn Daily travel case, the Shyn Confidently Minty Floss Picks (90 count), the Rembrandt Deeply White + Peroxide Toothpaste and the Rembrandt 1 Week Whitening Kit!  Kits start at $59.99, this one in particular is $79.99. But you can get $10 off any kit if you use KINDKETOMAMA10 at checkout!

Opening the Shyn box felt like Christmas morning! I can honestly say I had never been so excited to brush my teeth. It also felt thrilling to know that whiter teeth were right around the corner.

The first time using my Shyn Daily Sonic toothbrush felt very different than brushing my teeth with my battery operated electric toothbrush. I switched through all of the settings (clean, whiten, sensitive, and massage) just to see what felt best to me. I was also able to increase or decrease the intensity levels so my mouth felt perfectly clean.

The entire experience felt luxurious. The only way that I can really describe it, was like a spa day for my gums and teeth. My mouth definitely felt cleaner longer, after using the kit.

On the 5th day, I had a brunch meeting with some of my girlfriends and I was “a lot more smiley than normal,” my friend Laura pointed out. I definitely felt more radiant and confident when speaking to people face to face, than ever before.

I read once that smiling can trick your brain into happiness and boost your health. When you smile it causes a chemical reaction in your brain that can make you feel happier! Just think what a better place the world would be if we all smiled a little bit more.

At brunch with my girlfriends. That’s me on the far right.

The Shyn team also sent me the Oral B Pro 5000 to compare in my review. The Oral B Pro 5000 and the Shyn Daily Sonic are similar in size and shape. I really appreciate that they were both so sleek and slim in design. The battery operated electric toothbrushes I had tried in the past were always so big and bulky. Both toothbrushes came with charging stations and travel cases. That’s where the similarities ended.

The Oral B toothbrush came with 1 standard brush head. I was not able to choose between whitening, anti-plaque or gum care like with Shyn.

The Oral B toothbrush comes with Bluetooth technology and a compatible application for your smartphone. The app allows you to view a timer as you’re brushing your teeth. Although I was intrigued at first, the thought of having my iPhone nearby while brushing my teeth kind of grossed me out. Toothbrush juice flying everywhere? No thanks!

The Shyn Daily Sonic toothbrush comes equipped with a built-in four quadrant timer. There’s no need for me to look at my phone to know when it’s time to move on to the next section of my mouth. Every 30 seconds, it has a 1 second stall, to alert me instead.

With the collection Shyn sent me, they provide a complete solution at $80 with the Daily Sonic toothbrush, Rembrandt toothpaste, flossers, and Rembrandt whitening strips. Bundling this way would save me so much more money than if I would have bought all these items a la carte. If you’re not in the market for a tooth whitening kit, the toothbrush alone with the charging station and a travel case starts at only $60.

The Oral B 5000 with Bluetooth? Around $90-$125 on Amazon. Did I mention it doesn’t come with a whitening kit, whitening toothpaste or floss picks?

I was very impressed at the fact that I would be able to get a high quality electric toothbrush bundled with all those bonus items to get my teeth at their whitest and brightest for much less money than the leading brand. ! I can set my recurring subscription to get everything sent straight to my door and never think about it again.

I recommend the Shyn Bright Collection with my entire heart. The overall experience was incredible. I love that I save time and money by bundling and subscribing. Also, I can’t wait to see the look on my dentists face when she sees how much my oral care has improved since my last visit!
